Greater daylight

Sunrise was at 9:19 AM today and sunset at 5:10 PM. We are nearly up to 8 hours of daylight which is very exciting.

We are gaining 5 minutes of daylight a day!

Stolen – 4 Studded on steel rims

A dirty rotten scoundrel stole my spare tires on rims between 1:30 PM and 5:30 PM Monday January 28.

Four studded tires on steel rims. 5 lugs. Studs are about worn out.

Tire size P205/70R15

I came home at lunch and chucked some trash over the fence. The gate was secure and the tires present. I got home with Elizabeth about four hours later to find the gate ajar and my tires missing.

Nothing else was gone.

There were several lovely clear shoe prints in the snow. APD came out and took pictures.

We warned the neighbors, too.

The tires were in back instead of on my car because they’re worn out. The rims are good. Could’ve been much worse. Had we changed my tires this year they would’ve gotten new summer tires on factory rims. Or they could’ve broken into the house and done awful things.

I’m ticked about the theft but its hard to get worked up when it could have been so much worse.

I’ll finish calling pawn shops tomorrow. Perhaps the tires will be found.

Milk and paint

She did not want to suck from the bottle this morning so Scott removed the top and she drank directly from the bottle without the nipple. A little messy but they had a good time.

I’ve been painting the kitchen. Walls are done, ceiling next. Warm Scone and Cantaloupe.

Miso at Chongs Tokyo Garden

We went to Chongs Tokyo Garden for dinner tonight and they brought EKA her very own bowl of Miso soup

She liked the broth but loved the tofu

She rocked in delight and hammered the table if I was slow on delivery

We had such a nice time

She also tasted Unagi Don (eel in a sweet sauce), mildly spicy mayonnaise (yum – more please), sweet egg, and another sauce

My favorite toddler/food story is Bear warning his papa as he carried a spoon of lime sherbet to his mouth – “no papa wasabi is hot!”20130114-211705.jpg20130114-211839.jpg

Longer days

It was not full dark when I left work tonight.

The days are getting longer, little by little.

Louse-y new year

Bing and Kate acquired lice. Explains the itching. Ugh. Fortunately lice are species specific. We’ll kill the adults then work on killing the youngsters as the nits hatch over the next 3 weeks.

And 1/2 mile from work a terrible fire. 3 story 24 unit apartment building. Paper is reporting it as arson.

Lice aren’t so bad.
