The Nenana Volunteer Fire Department rescued me on 8/25/2014. They had to cut the Jeep to extract me. They were competent and compassionate and really good at what they do.

There was a not quite fiery car wreck on August 25. Fortunately I was alone.
The Jeep and Skamper as well as the Honda that struck me were all totaled.
An interesting assortment of bruises, concussion and internal injuries for myself and 5 days in the hospital.
It was bad and hurt and terrifying. Nobody died. Don’t pass when it’s not legal on a highway. Just don’t. And never pass by following another vehicle.

Wow. We are really tired.
We sanded and sanded and sanded trim on the house yesterday and today, performing some much needed and long overdue maintenance.
I became so aggravated at the orbital sander. The frickin’ keepers weren’t snug enough to hold the sand paper in place and every few feet I was replacing torn material before the paper was worn out. It certainly couldn’t have been operator error – the fact that Scott had no troubles with the device means nothing.
Then we primed and painted said trim.
We are a long way from done. However we got a lot done and the aching muscles from the unaccustomed activity is worth it. We haven’t touched the windows yet and still need to do the trim on the back side.
I think we will probably ignore the trim under the gutters this year.
I’ve also decided that we have even more reasons to love our little home. There are only 7 windows and between the simple roof and 36′ x 48′ footprint including the garage, just not that many linear feet of trim that need attention. Phew.

It is official, Kate has earned her Grand Champion title. I’m proud of my hard working girl. We’ve had a lot of fun in the conformation ring over the last nearly seven years.
Our daughter eats brussel sprouts.
She peels the leaves off singly and calls them turtles.

Kate earned her Grand Champion title from the AKC today at the three day dog show at the fairgrounds. We camped and had a wonderful time relaxing and visiting with friends.
Kate handled like a real pro today. She kept her feet where I placed them, gave me some real nice movement and showed her very best to the judge. We all really enjoyed exhibiting to this judge, Garry Newton. He put us all at our ease, actively encouraged us to take our time and show our dogs to our best advantage. He genuinely enjoyed his work. I would love to see him return for more judging assignments up here.
When he awarded Kate Select Bitch I thanked him and said ‘You just made a new Grand Champion’. He looked delighted and everybody hooted and hollered. It was great fun and Kate liked the fuss.
I sure wish her breeder and our dear friend Kat were still alive to share our joy. She would have been so proud of both of us today. I miss her.
But. I am very glad that Scott and Elizabeth were there. If she’d taken any ribbons yesterday they would have missed the fun. I’ll post her pic when it arrives.
